OUR HANDY WORK
About us
“I’ve always had a passion for working with wood! While in high school, I had a woodwork teacher who evoked in me a keen desire to explore my natural talent for creating something special with this natural medium. I loved the warmth and texture that it offered and embraced the creative process of turning this raw material into something timeless, pushing the boundaries of curriculum and honouring the craft of woodworking.
Entering the workforce, I put my newfound skills to the test by restoring antique furniture with a focus on learning as much as I could about the time forgotten craft of making and finishing things by hand. I developed a real eye for detail and came to appreciate the benefits of setting a high standard of workmanship that will last for generations to come.
As the trends changed in the furniture industry, particularly here in Adelaide to cheap imports and flat pack assembly and a new family to consider, I was forced to consider the practicality of my work. A romantic nostalgia for all things old and familiar verses the challenge of confronting the new and unknown.
So I found myself exploring ”practical” jobs lasting many years that never really brought the satisfaction I craved. While I learned many skills, many of which are still relevant, I never really enjoyed what I was doing. Some 20+ years after leaving school, I was forced to reconsider the same situation in life…stay with the safe and familiar verses taking a risk in the wide blue yonder.
With a strong desire to pick up the tools once again and against all odds from a crippling building industry at the time, I took the plunge! Older and wiser and no one to back me but myself and my family, my fledgling flooring business began!”
Nowadays, we have firmly landed our small family business in the marketplace but our reputation precedes us for high quality workmanship achieving the “impossible” and have become highly sought after! Initially, we took on just about anything that came along, but I never compromised on quality over quantity! Now we're a bit more picky and choosy. My diary has always been full as people quickly saw the contrast in our work over other installers. We've enjoyed many repeat clients over the years and get strong referrals. With the building/renovation boom currently going strong, we have been busier than ever before.
Give us a call, you won’t be disappointed!
